What does it cost to make a quote? Work it out

A quote takes time, and time is money. A simple calculation shows what it really costs you.

Many business owners do not know what a quote costs them. That is a pity, because it decides whether automating pays off.

The calculation

Cost per quote = time per quote × hourly rate.

Take an example: 45 minutes per quote, at an internal rate of 60 euros per hour. That is 45 euros per quote. With 20 quotes a month, that is 900 euros a month.

These are example figures. Enter your own time and rate.

What counts

  • The conversation itself and the preparation.
  • Writing up notes and looking up prices.
  • Formatting and sending.
  • Following up and adjusting.

What is often forgotten

  • Quotes that lead nowhere. Not every quote becomes a job; count that time too.
  • Waiting time. A quote that arrives a day later often scores lower.

Where you save time

  • A fixed structure and standard texts.
  • A product catalogue with prices.
  • Calculation rules for recurring jobs, see do not let AI do the maths.
  • Recording a conversation instead of retyping.

What it brings

Halve the time per quote and in the example you save 450 euros a month, and you can respond faster.

See the pricing: the free plan includes 5 conversations a month.
