Installers calculate the same things for every quote: how many hooks, rails, clamps and cable belong to this number of panels? You can record that.
What is a calculation rule?
A calculation rule describes one situation: for example "solar panels on a tiled roof, portrait". For that situation you record which items belong, and how many, as a formula of the input (number of panels, number of rows).
An example
Say you record that you need two roof hooks per panel, and one rail per row. With 12 panels in 2 rows the rule calculates 24 hooks and 2 rails itself. A flat roof east-west has other items, such as ballast and frames.
Pitfalls
- Check the formulas once with example values, especially the edge cases.
- Agree who manages the rules, so salespeople don't change them at will.
- Update the rule when the supplier changes their mounting system.
Dealnote has calculation rules for every industry. You can make them yourself, or have the AI draft a rule from a piece of text or a PDF manual. Check and test it afterwards.
